Deliberately. Many autistic children experience visual overwhelm from busy, colourful graphics. The minimal design reduces sensory load, making it easier for your child to focus on and process the meaning of each card. Multiple occupational therapists and ABA practitioners contributed feedback on the visual design specifically for this reason.
📱 Can these be used alongside an AAC device?
📱 Can these be used alongside an AAC device?
Yes. The emotion cards and communication boards are designed to complement AAC use — not replace it. Many families print and laminate the cards so their child has a physical backup when technology is not available, or for use in situations where pulling out a device is not practical (bath time, bedtime, school hallways).
Your child FEELS everything. They just cannot tell you.
The meltdown comes out of nowhere — or so it seems. But your child was overwhelmed five minutes before you noticed. They could not tell you their shoes were too tight. They could not explain the classroom was too loud. They could not say 'I am scared' because nobody gave them those words in a format they could actually use. The gap is not comprehension. It is communication tools. When your child has no way to express what they feel, the emotion has nowhere to go except out.
Visual tools that give your child a voice — even without words.
30 visual emotion cards designed for non-verbal and minimally verbal autistic children. Communication boards for I feel, I want, I need. A sensory check-in chart that catches overwhelm before it becomes a meltdown. Daily visual schedules that make transitions predictable. Calm-down strategy cards in image-only format your child can carry in a pocket or backpack.
